Wallace Joiner

Amy Barnes
Wallace took her first Yoga class in 2002 after the birth of her daughter. She began teaching in 2004 and graduated from SIYI (Southern Institute of Yoga Instructors) in 2005. She studies regularly with Iyengar certified teachers in both weekly classes and workshops.  Her primary teachers are Rachel Moss and Jan Campbell.  She is currently pursuing teacher training for Iyengar certification under the guidance of Jan Campbell and Sharon Conroy.

In addition to the study of asana, Wallace is deeply committed to the study of yogic philosophy.  The connections between mind and body are a source of endless fascination and exploration for her, and she loves sharing this passion with others.

Wallace teaches the Restorative class at 12South.  She finds that most people have a difficult time allowing themselves to deeply relax, and she hopes her classes will bring students in touch with their need for relaxation.  She believes this practice is invaluable for stress relief and a healthy body, and she encourages students to incorporate elements of this practice into their daily lives.

Wallace is originally from Memphis, TN.  She holds a Bachelor’s degree in Art History from the University of Georgia.  Wallace has served on the Board of Yoga Society Nashville for three years and is currently the President.
